Who gets cited in your answer space?
Enter your domain. We take the AI answers the index has already attached to it and count which domains those answers cite as sources, so you can see whether your own site is the reference or whether somebody else is. This counts citations. It does not count whether your name is said in the answer text.
Being cited and being named are two different things
An AI answer can discuss your brand at length and cite a review site, a forum thread, or an aggregator as its source. You're in the conversation; you're not the reference. The reverse happens just as often: your domain is linked as a source and your name is never said in the text, so the reader learns the fact and never learns it came from you.
This tool measures citations only. A citation is a domain appearing as a source behind an answer. It is not a measure of how often AI talks about you, and we do not estimate one from the other. Across a thousand categories the two track each other at about -0.229, close to independent and slightly negative, and the most cited domain in a category is the most mentioned brand only a fifth of the time. Any single number claiming to combine them would be describing neither.
So this tool doesn't ask you to name competitors. It takes the answer set the index already attaches to your domain and counts which domains those answers cite, including yours. If domains rank above you there, they're the sources shaping what gets said.
Data comes from an index of ChatGPT answers for US English queries, so it reflects accumulated behaviour rather than one live sample. The index returns a top ten, not a full list, so shares below are shares of those ten. Brands the index doesn't cover are reported as unmeasured, never as zero. This is the free tier of Answer Monitor, which tracks the same signal continuously and alerts you when it moves.
