// Citation Gap

Is AI citing you, or your competitors?

Enter your domain and up to three prompts your customers actually ask. We put each one to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with web search live, then read back the sources each engine cited, so you can see where you're in the answer, where you're not, and exactly which domains took your place.

Prompts your customers ask (up to 3, checked on 3 engines each)

What this actually checks

Each prompt is sent to three answer engines with web search enabled, and we read back the sources each one actually cited. If your domain isn't in that set, you're not in the answer. We show you which domains are, and at what position.

We report two states, separately, and never add them together. Cited means your domain is one of the source links behind the answer. Named means your brand name appears in the text a reader sees. They are decided independently: in the published benchmark 62% of citations are ghost citations, linked but never named, and only 13% of appearances are both. A single visibility number would hide which of the two you are missing, and the two have different fixes. Named counts appearance only. It says nothing about whether the answer was favourable.

We check every engine because single-engine results mislead. A brand Perplexity cites constantly can be invisible to ChatGPT, and one number hides that. Models used: gpt-5.4-mini, sonar, gemini-3.5-flash, each with web search on. An engine that fails to respond is reported as unavailable, never scored as "not cited".

This is the free tier of Answer Monitor. The same signal, run continuously across every engine and alerting you when it shifts.
